In celebration of INTEGRIS Health’s 10th anniversary, the first ever INTEGRIS StarQuest contest was held Nov. 19, 2005 at Penn Square Mall. Stanley Hupfeld, President and CEO of INTEGRIS Health, announced Lisa Gray from INTEGRIS Marshall County Medical Center in Madill as the grand-prize winner.

The competition, mirrored after the hit TV series American Idol, was open to all INTEGRIS employees. Nineteen preliminary winners were chosen after performing a oneminute song, a cappella, in front of judges. An all-employee vote determined the 10 finalists, who then performed for three judges at the final competition.

“INTEGRIS employees across the state made our 10th anniversary special. We’ve always known how dedicated and skilled our employees are on the job. StarQuest allowed us to showcase their incredible talents off the job as well,” says Hupfeld.

Gray captured the 2005 StarQuest championship with her rendition of “Open My Heart.” Her prize package included a $4,250 Penn Square Mall shopping spree, a recording session at an Oklahoma City sound studio, an all-expense paid trip to audition with an entertainment industry professional, and an opportunity to sing in a future INTEGRIS Health commercial.

“It was really great to see all of our hospitals come together as one organization. Our employees’ abilities are far-reaching, no matter what part of the state they’re in,” says Karl Weinmeister, managing director for INTEGRIS Rural Health.

Gray, a certified nurse’s aide, has lived in Madill since 1995. She has three children and one grandchild. Her goal, she says, is to allow the Lord to use her to lift people up through song.

The top 10 finalists included Gray; Zack Benbrook, INTEGRIS Baptist Regional Health Center, Miami; Lance Clark, INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital; Angela Davis and Nancy Hromas, INTEGRIS Bass Baptist, Enid; Elizabeth Germann, and Michelle Knight, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center; Randy Kamm, INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center; Hausana Kettle, INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional, Yukon; and Wayne Shook, INTEGRIS Mayes County Medical Center, Pryor. Each finalist received a $1,250 Penn Square Mall shopping spree.
