Veteran's History Project

Veteran's
History
Project

The United States Congress created the Veterans History Project in 2000. The authorizing legislation (Public Law 106-380), sponsored by Representatives Ron Kind, Amo Houghton, and Steny Hoyer in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senators Max Cleland and Chuck Hagel in the U.S. Senate, received unanimous support and was signed into law by President William Jefferson Clinton on October 27, 2000. The mission of the Veterans History Project is to collect oral histories, interviews, memoirs, photographs, letters, diaries, and other historical documents, which bring wartime experiences to life in a very personal and often moving way that supplements broader historical accounts.

INTEGRIS Health was invited to become one of the official Veterans History Project collecting partners. INTEGRIS Third Age life Center has interviewed over 30 veterans and collected more than 100 items of memorabilia, which includes photos, autobiographies, journals, dairies and letters. INTEGRIS Health also hosted two Veterans ceremonies to honor all the women and men that served our country.
