C. Craig Elkins, M.D.

Dr. Craig Elkins received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and subsequently his M.D. from the University of Oklahoma in 1988. Dr. Elkins performed his residency at Vanderbilt University and graduated in 1998,when he returned to Oklahoma to establish his private practice.

Dr. Elkins joined Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City in 1998 where he is currently the chief of lung transplantation. He is also an active member of several committees at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, which includes being chief of the department of cardiovascular surgery for 2007 as well as being the medical director of 8 West intermediate care at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center.

In addition to being a part of NZTI, he has an active private practice in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, which began in 1998, which includes open heart surgery as well as lung and vascular surgery. Dr. Elkins is also one of the few thoracic surgeons in the United States who performs the Ross Procedure for aortic valvular disease.
