Cemalettin Camci M.D.
Organ Transplant Research Scientist

Cemalettin Camci M.D. is an Organ Transplant Research Scientist at NZTI. He joined the transplant team in September of 2007. Dr. Camci earned his medical degree from Ankara University School of Medicine-TURKEY. He completed his general surgical training in 1998 at Cukurova University School of Medicine , Adana-Turkey. His graduation thesis was “Splenorenal shunts in the treatment of Portal Hypertension”. He has been an Associate Professor in General Surgery in Firat (Euphrates) University-Elazig-Turkey since 2002.

During his residency, he was the recipient of a transplantation scholarship offered by the government of Norway. He had worked as a visiting research fellow in the Department of Transplantation in Rikshospitalet-Oslo-Norway, between August-December 1995.

He was also a visiting research fellow at the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute from February 2004 to April-2005. During his tenure there, he authored several articles associated with liver transplantation, as well as participated in organ procurements operations. He also lectured the Hepatology fellows regarding the surgical aspects of liver transplantation.

Dr. Camci’s interests include experimental transplantation, surgical training, prevention of intraabdominal adhesions and various educational materials in surgery. He published several articles about general surgery and liver transplantation in various national and international journals. He also presented a number of oral and/or poster presentations at various national or international liver related meetings.
