Adel E. Ghuloom, MD

Adel E. Ghuloom, M.D., is a transplant intensivist for the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attends to the medical needs of our patients (pre and post transplant) in the transplant intensive care unit (TICU). He performs many procedures for the purpose of diagnosing and treating critically ill patients. Dr. Ghuloom provides a wealth of knowledge to many interns visiting the ICU. He also was awarded outstanding teaching faculty at INTEGRIS. Concurrently, he is the clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Oklahoma. Before Dr. Ghuloom joined our team, he was the director of the critical care resident education program at Meritcare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota, and the clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of North Dakota. He was also the coordinator of the medical-surgical intensive care unit at the Salmaniya Medical Complex in Manama, Bahrain.

Dr. Ghuloom earned his undergraduate degree and MD with distinction at the Arabian Gulf University in Manama, Bahrain, ranking third in the class. Dr. Ghuloom received his critical care training and fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. His internal medicine training, internship, and residency was accomplished at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. During this time, Dr. Ghuloom scored at the 97th and 99th percentile in the internal medicine in-training examinations. He is board certified with the American Board of Critical Care Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Ghuloom coordinated the first workshop on hemodynamics and mechanical ventilation for nurses. This workshop was conducted at the Arabian Gulf University, Manama, Bahrain. He facilitated workshops on difficult airway management for the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) in San Diego, California, and in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Ghuloom has lectured on subjects of anemia and sepsis in intensive care units. He has also written journals and abstracts concerning these subjects. Ongoing research is being done by Dr. Ghuloom on the outcomes of patients with solid organ transplants and transfusion medicine in critically ill patients.

Dr. Ghuloom has retained memberships in the American College of Physicians and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Previously, he was elected vice president of the Bahrain Medical Society and was appointed chairman of the Social committee and the Combined Council of Medical Associations at the Bahrain Medical Society.
