Periodic Site Visits
The speech-language pathologist makes periodic site visits when it is deemed necessary to evaluate a student in person, provide interim on-site speech therapy to designated students, or meet with parents and the educational team for IEP meetings.
Nine-Week Progress Reports
To apprise parents and teachers of students' progress, quarterly progress reports are submitted for each student by the speech teletherapy speech-language pathologist.
Outcome Measures
To evaluate the effectiveness of speech teletherapy as an alternative service delivery program, the ISMC speech teletherapy program is participating in the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) National Outcomes Measurement System (NOMS).
Initial Site Visit
After entering into a contractual agreement with a school district, the speech-language pathologist makes an initial site visit. The objectives of the initial site visit include:
-
Meeting with teachers, staff, and parents as an introduction to the program
-
Reviewing the IEPs of students who will be receiving speech therapy through the ISMC Speech Teletherapy program
-
Providing speech and language screenings as designated by the school district's screening policy
Speech/Language Testing
Standardized testing is administered when a student is referred to the ISMC speech teletherapy program, as designated in a student's IEP, or when deemed appropriate by the speech-language pathologist for a student presently receiving speech therapy. Typically, standardized tests are administered via the T-1 connection. However, testing may be administered on site for younger students or for students with multiple special needs.
