The Yoga for Kids and Sand Mandala classes continue to be a big hit at the Center for Mind, Body and Spirit. Each session we experience new adventures - going on a picnic, an African Safari, the rain forest and trips to the zoo and the circus.
Of course we never actually leave the Center but we discover the fun of creating these journeys by using our imaginations and the poses (asanas) we learn. We become trees, flamingos, butterflies and even snakes and alligators. We stretch and strengthen our muscles, improve our balance and gain an understanding that we are connected to all of life. "Peace begins with me" is an affirmation we use often. We also experience the art of journaling……writing down our thoughts and feelings or just drawing fun pictures.
After the wonderful yoga adventures we set up the tables to work on sand mandalas. Each child creates their own masterpiece. Creating a sand mandala teaches patience, sharing, and being present "in the moment." The children make new friends, stay focused and learn new ways to strengthen their bodies and calm their minds.
With so much interest in the Yoga for Kids and Sand Mandala classes the Center for Mind, Body and Spirit is now offering classes year round.
