Unit 801 - An Intensive Thoracic Cardiovascular Unit or ITCU
Welcome to Unit 801 at INTEGRIS Heart Hospital, an Intensive Thoracic Cardiovascular Care Unit (ITCU). This 12-bed unit receives patients directly from the operating room following open heart surgery. With a very low nurse-to-patient ratio, one R.N. to one recovering open heart patient, this unit receives on an average, four to six new patients per day. In addition to caring for patients after their open heart surgeries, our knowledgeable nurses care for patients recovering from other thoracic (chest) or vascular surgeries including: thoracotomies, abdominal aortic aneurysm repairs, patients recovering from femoral-popliteal bypass surgeries, and patients requiring intra-aortic balloon pumps, or continuous renal replacement therapy or ventricular assist device support.
