History

In March 1995 INTEGRIS Baptist installed the state's largest HBO chamber, one capable of treating 12 patients at a time.

  • In 1989, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center became the first hospital in Oklahoma to have an HBO chamber. The chamber was designed to hold one patient at a time.
  • In March of 1995 INTEGRIS Baptist installed the state's largest HBO chamber, one capable of treating 12 patients at a time. There have been more than 10,000 treatments since its inception.
  • More than 500 patients have been treated in the HBO chamber. The oldest patient was 92 years old. The youngest was 5 months old.
  • The deepest dive in the chamber has been 165 feet. (The pressure in the chamber equaled what would be felt at 165 feet deep in the water.)
  • The total depth the chamber has been since March 1995 is 188,175 feet — about 35 miles. That's about five times deeper than the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean.
  • Since March 1995 the chamber has been filled and refilled with more than 75 million cubic feet of air — enough to fill the Goodyear blimp more than 300 times.
  • The chamber has used almost 1.5 million cubic feet of oxygen - enough to fill 20 hot air balloons.
