INTEGRIS Mental Health Center - Spencer offers a number of treatment options for adolescents and their families. All therapies are geared toward the individual and are under the direction of a child psychiatrist and a multi-disciplinary team of masters or doctoral level clinicians, registered and licensed practical nurses and qualified mental health professionals.
Treatment has four main components: family therapy, individual therapy, group therapy and social skills development. Young people learn effective coping strategies, healthy expression of feelings (including anger management), age-appropriate communication, cooperation, and social and peer relations skills. Patients spend a portion of each day in an on-site school, taught by teachers from the Oklahoma City Public Schools.
Patients participate in a reward system, earning points for behavioral performance in school and participation in groups and other activities. Privileges serve as rewards. Inappropriate behaviors, such as non-compliance to rules and aggression, have consequences which are discussed in advance.
