R. Kent Dyer, Jr., M.D., has been with the Hough Ear Institute and on staff at the Otologic Medical Clinic as a neurotologist since 1994. He presently serves as Medical Director of the INTEGRIS Hearing Enrichment Language Program (HELP) and Director of the Balance Center and Vestibular Rehabilitation Program. Dr. Dyer came to Oklahoma from Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was in private practice and on the clinical staff at the University of Virginia.
He received his medical degree at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and subsequently completed a five-year residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Duke University. Dr. Dyer received additional training in otology and neurotology at the Hough Ear Institute prior to being invited to join the clinical staff at the Otologic Medical Clinic. He helps train visiting doctors and does primarily middle ear research for the institute.
Dr. Dyer's clinical interests include all aspects of otology and neurotology, including hearing loss, balance disorders, otosclerosis, implantable hearing devices, middle ear surgery, facial nerve disorders and skull base surgery. Dr. Dyer has participated in multiple medical missions trips around the world including lecture tours in the Ukraine, Moldova and Vietnam in association with the Christian Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgeons.
