From the Chairman

Dear Friends,

From its inception, the Hough Ear Institute (HEI) has sought to glorify our Creator by advancing human health worldwide in the areas of hearing and balance. Our mission is accomplished through service to humanity, research and education.

The Hough Ear Institute has been very blessed to have consistent and ongoing support from many loyal friends.  Besides the very important gifts from individual donors, grants from INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, the Oklahoma Center for Science and Technology, the U.S. Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health, and the Shulsky Fund for Medicine and Research keep us going. To carry out our work we’ve also been given a fine team of people with excellent professional skills and creative ideas.

Because we have been so blessed, we are compelled to wholeheartedly serve our constituents throughout Oklahoma and the world by donating time, services, and resources to developing nations, devoting time and resources to cutting edge research aimed at improving patient care, and teaching medical students, residents, and colleagues nationally and internationally.

Through generous financial gifts and prayer, HEI has been able to provide medical training and assistance to people in more than 60 different countries. Fellowships, courses, lectures, and teaching have had an impact throughout Oklahoma, nationally and abroad.

The Hough Ear Institute has made significant contributions toward the development of the cochlear implant and a variety of other implantable devices for hearing impairments; developed the INTEGRIS Hearing Enrichment Language Program, a unique internationally-recognized program to better assist those with hearing impairment to listen and speak….and much more.

With the continuing support of Oklahomans, other donors, a variety of grantors, and God’s enablement, the Hough Ear Institute will continue to expand our programs. In addition to the established ongoing work, the Hough Ear Institute is already pioneering new research with potential in the future to find cures for deafness of all types.  This would certainly go a long way towards insuring the best possible hearing care for people everywhere. Through our research, humanitarian efforts and educational endeavors, we will continue to strive to pass on our knowledge and discoveries to mankind throughout the globe.

Sincerely
Jack Hough, M.D.
