“Wheels to Wellness” for Chemo and Radiation Therapy Appointments
The Troy & Dollie Smith Cancer Center is able to provide transportation through the efforts of generous donors who purchased the Cancer Center Van and the drivers who donate their services to transport patients to their chemotherapy and radiation therapy appointments.
Troy & Dollie Smith Cancer Center appreciates our kindhearted volunteers who help make this service possible. Otherwise, many may not be able to find transportation to meet their appointment requirements.
Drivers have specific responsibilities of which you need to be aware so you can be comfortable riding the van.
-
Drivers provide transportation to and from chemo and radiation treatment appointments at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center.
-
Drivers are not trained to assist wheelchair patients though we do have a wheel chair lift. If you need assistance, please ask a friend or family member to accompany you.
-
If an emergency arises during operation of the van, the driver will contact the nearest EMSA or medical service. Our drivers are not trained in First Aid or Resuscitation.
-
Drivers never give medical advice.
-
We are happy to assist with your cancer treatment transportation needs.
-
Family, friends and public transportation may also be of some assistance.
-
Multiple patients may be scheduled to ride the van at the same time; therefore, you may need to be picked up earlier than your scheduled appointment time to accommodate everyone's appointments.
Planning for Transportation
-
Reservations must be requested 48 hours in advance of day of appointment.
