How do I get enrolled?
A physician referral form must be completed by your doctor to get enrolled into any of the programs. This is necessary for insurance coverage. Once the doctor fills this out, it should be faxed to our office.  When our office administrator gets the fax, she will call you to set up your appointment. If you need a referral form, just call us at (405) 949-6000 and we will get the referral to your doctor.

Is there a cost for the program?
Yes, but most insurance companies cover the cost of diabetes education. Our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education and therefore can be billed to insurance. All billing is entered through INTEGRIS Health as an outpatient service.

I really just need to see a dietitian!
This is a common misunderstanding about diabetes … it is not just about food! Our programs offer a team approach to managing diabetes including education not only about diet but the body as well.

Is there a doctor at ediba Diabetes Center of Excellence?
No, we are a team of nurses and dietitians. We work closely with your physicians to reach the best level of control for your diabetes. 

How many times do I need to come in?
Most of our programs include two or three visits, unless you need more instruction or would like continued support. We continue to offer ongoing support groups as a resource after you have completed your program.

Why do I need to come to an all day class?
With all that we have to tell you we even find it hard to stop at the end of the day. Either you would not get all of the information, or we would need to schedule you to come in for five different appointments! It is also nice to meet others in the community who are living with the same disease. Most patients are surprised by how much they get out of class and how much they enjoy it!
