• Burns are the third leading cause of accidental death in the U.S.
• Burns are the leading cause of accidental death in children ages 1-15.
• Less than 180 burn units are available to care for these patients. The Paul Silverstein Burn Center at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center is the one of the largest and most comprehensive burn centers in the country, and one of only two adult burn units in Oklahoma.
• 80% of fire and burn injuries are caused by the victims own careless actions.
• 75% of burn injuries occur in the home.
