"My mother was admitted to Baptist ER recently. She has congestive heart failure and is elderly. I live in Houston, TX and it was after 7pm by the time I was able to be with my mother. By the time I arrived she had been admitted and was in a room. She was aware that I was there, and managed to mumble the word 'surprised.' She was so weak she could not move herself in the bed, she was incoherent, and breathing badly. Head nurse Delois took charge of my mother's care and explained what was needed for her to feel better. I stayed until 11:45 pm and then left my mother in Delois' capable care. Tuesday morning my mother was sitting up, talking, and breathing normally. She told me how Delois took care of her all night long with the help of her nurses' aid. They saved my mother's life. I was very impressed with my mother's care, from Dr. Spenser to every nurse on the ninth floor, but I am certain that Delois pulled my mother through the crisis. She was wonderful, conscientious, and made all the difference. Thank you, and please tell nurse Delois thank you."

From the initial contact from the nursing staff on 6 East Joint Replacement Center throughout the resuscitation of this critically ill patient including the interventions of the house medical staff, emergency room physicians and on call cardiologist through to the nursing supervisors and Intensive Care Unit staff at the 901 unit that received the patient, their performance was exemplary throughout. it is a tremendous reassurance as a member of your medical staff to have these resources available and deployed in such a thoughtful and caring manner. in spite of the great difficulties encountered by the patient she made a remarkable recovery and was discharged home in good health.
