Oklahoma's Most Experienced Stroke Response Team
Stroke is the third-leading cause of death in America and the #1 leading cause of serious, long-term disability. In Oklahoma, an estimated 31,000 suffer a stroke annually—4,000 of which are under the age of 65. It affects four out of every five families in the state.*

The INTEGRIS James R. Daniel Stroke Center, located at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center, is the first of its kind in OKC—a dedicated stroke unit with four neurologists and nearly 100 National Institute of Health Stroke Scale certified physicians and nurses.

And because "time is brain"—the more time lost, the more severe the effects of the stroke—the Stroke Center has a specialized ER stroke response team that meets each patient the second they come through the door. This immediate care, which may include administering the clot-busting drug tPA, allows for the best possible outcome for each patient.

Knowing the Symptoms Saves Lives
With greater awareness of the symptoms, the severity of many strokes could be greatly lessened. If you or a loved one experience any of the following symptoms, call 911 immediately:

Sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg Sudden trouble waking, dizziness
Sudden confusion or trouble speaking Sudden loss of balance or coordination
Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes Sudden severe headache
