When a Stroke Occurs, We're Ready
| INTEGRIS' Code Stroke Team Ready 24/7 Time is of the essence for stroke survivors — if treated quickly enough, the effects of a stroke can be decreased by as much as 30%. INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center's "Code Stroke Team" is specially trained to identify and treat stroke patients.
Before a patient even hits the ER doors, our Code Stroke Team is already fast at work — prepping to be able to immediately assess the patient and determine if they're a candidate for tPA, a drug that works to dissolve the blood clot and restore flow of blood in the brain. tPA can reduce the amount of damage, limit the patient's disability and, ultimately, save lives.
OKC's Most Experienced Stroke Center At INTEGRIS, it's our job to act quickly. The Code Stroke Team consistently exceeds the national standards set out for treatment of patients with tPA. One of the many criteria is that which specifies a one-hour timeframe from the minute the stroke victim enters the hospital until the administration of the drug.
Leading the highly experienced team is Dr. Charles Morgan, medical director of the Stroke Center. He's joined by ER staff, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale certified nurses, CT scan technologists and other experts — all available 24/7, 365 days.
As important as the immediate care you receive, is the ability to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. At the onset of the first signs, call 911.
