This course is designed to introduce key concepts in understanding the emergent nature of stroke and stroke treatment. It also illustrates the importance of continued medical management, prevention, minimizing impairment. and maximizing the quality of life of persons who have sustained a stroke. The course also allows for all allied health professionals to obtain accurate and complete profiles of the persons they serve through the study of the emergent nature of stroke and the pathophysiology to stroke.
 
Currently, our e-learning courses are only available to INTEGRIS employees. We are working on allowing access to other individuals, hopefully by early 2009.

  • Identify the pathophysiology and effects of stroke 
  • Explain the effect of stroke on the ischemic penumbra 
  • List the non-modifiable and modifiable stroke risk factors
  • List neurological assessment tips to help In the early identification of stroke
  • Explain transport and pre-hospital protocols for emergent treatment of stroke
  • Identify emergent treatment for hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke
  • Explain the role of the "Code Stroke" team
  • The use of rtPA in ischemic stroke treatment
