About the INTEGRIS Surgical Weight Loss Center

INTEGRIS Health's Surgical Weight Loss program at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center was initiated in July of 2006. Dr. Russell Gornichec, the medical director, has been performing surgical weight loss procedures in the Oklahoma City area since 2003. The INTEGRIS Surgical Weight Loss program incorporates both surgical and non-surgical means of weight loss. In close cooperation with PACER Fitness Center, a non-surgical approach to morbid obesity has been created. This program involves a medically supervised pathway that includes nutritional counseling, psychological evaluation, behavior modification, and a supervised individualized exercise program.

For those patients who qualify and have failed a medically supervised program, surgical weight loss procedures can be considered. This surgical program offers revisional surgery, gastric bypass and the Adjustable Gastric Band procedure. Patients undergo preoperative testing, evaluation and utilization of a locally based support group to assess whether this surgical intervention is the right choice for them.

The center offers a free informational seminar to patients and their support persons on a monthly basis. Information regarding the support group, the surgical procedures and the free seminar can be attained on this Web site.
