EDUCATION is the most important tool in the management of diabetes. At the INTEGRIS Grand Lake Diabetes Center in Grove, Oklahoma, our staff empowers patients with the knowledge necessary to take control and successfully self-manage their diabetes.

Outpatient classes are taught by a Certified Diabetes Educator and a Registered Dietitian. The curriculum includes:

• Diabetes disease process

• Nutrition (meal planning, eating out and reading food labels).

• Exercise

• Medications - pills and insulin

• Blood glucose monitoring

• Preventing, detecting and treating complications

• Stress management

• Foot and eye care

• Diabetes and pregnancy

Medicare and many insurance plans cover Diabetes Education. For those without insurance, several financial options are available.
