GROVE -
A replacement facility for INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital has been approved by the INTEGRIS Health Board of Directors. The board voted unanimously on Jan. 22, 2008 to replace the aging facility at a cost of $56 million.

Below is a timeline of events leading up to the board’s decision.

In 1998, INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital purchased property east of the existing facility to be used for future expansion.

In fiscal year 2000, a 10-year master facility plan was completed for the hospital with input from board members, physicians, staff and the community. The plan resulted in the construction of a physician office building and an ambulatory care center. It also called for the construction of a new, replacement hospital to be located on the new campus.

KaufmanHall served as consultants for the master facility plan and advised that the existing hospital was generally obsolete, in poor physical appearance, and in need of replacement. The original building was built in 1963 and had been added to four times resulting in a linear, inefficient layout. It was also concluded that the patient care facilities could not be remodeled in a feasible way to achieve contemporary design standards. In short, the current hospital was deemed not conducive to long-term expansion.

With the study's findings and projections, management began the schematic design phase for a replacement hospital and hired HKS of Dallas as the architect and Robins and Morton as the construction firm.

INTEGRIS Health then asked the hospital foundation to begin a capital campaign. Their goal was to raise $5 million to support the facility. To date they have raised $4.3 million and expect to meet their goal within the near future.

“A replacement facility will allow the organization to centralize all patient care services and enhance accessibility,” says Greg Martin, Grove General Hospital President. “This should result in improved patient and physician satisfaction. And will help the hospital’s ability to recruit new physicians and staff.”

Groundbreaking for the new hospital will be on Feb. 29, 2008 at 10:00 am.
