Construction has begun on the new INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital

Driving east on 13th Street, across from the baseball field, earthmovers, bulldozers and other heavy equipment have been busy preparing the site for the new INTEGRIS Grove hospital. Surveyors have staked out the entire site, an erosion fence and chain link fence are up and the community can see daily progress in meeting the completion date at the end of 2009.

The new hospital is not the only construction that will be happening on 13th Street. Negotiations are under way with an investment company to build a 30,000 new square feet medical office building as the medical staff continues to grow and expand.

The third project consists of a new administrative building to house the hospital's business offices, human resource department, practice management offices, marketing department, home health, and the information technology department.

In addition to the hospital's building plans, the Grove Emergency Services (EMS) board will soon be breaking ground on the new EMS station directly across the street and adjacent to the INTEGRIS Professional Center. This central location will allow easy access for ambulances to respond to the medical needs of the community.

A much needed Cancer Center that can offer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and other services to support patients who have been diagnosed with cancer is in this year's business plan. Currently, the hospital provides chemotherapy through a partnership with Dr. Matthew Miller, a board-certified oncologist. However, patients must travel to Tulsa or Joplin, to receive radiation therapy services. The INTEGRIS Grove Cancer Center will be the only place between Tulsa and Joplin where patients can be treated for this prevalent disease.

The INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital Foundation is very close to meeting the goal for their $5 million capital campaign to help build the new hospital. All donations will be spent in Grove on the hospital building fund project. If you would like to help meet the goal, call 918-787-3464 or go to web site www.grovefoundation.org.
