Research Projects

INTEGRIS Grove General was selected to be part of the TIMI-19 Study because of its excellent Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Room staff.  This meant that the Grove EMS would not only have an up-to-date communication system, it would also be one of the first emergency medical services in the country  to use thrombolytics (anti-clot medicine used to treat heart attack victims) as part of their advanced life-support pre-hospital care. Only 12 facilities in the U.S. were  selected to participate in the TIMI-19 study, and INTEGRIS Grove and Grove EMS together were one of the 12.

TIMI stands for "Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction" (heart attack). The 19 indicates that this was the 19th study in the use of clot-dissolving drugs in the treatment  of heart attacks. The drug used in this study, Retavase, saves an additional ten lives per thousand suffering heart attacks if the drug is administered in a timely  manner to eligible heart attack victims.
