Yukon Facility Continues to "Experience the Excitement, Experience the Expansion"

With age old tradition on hand, INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Hospital celebrated a major milestone last month with a “Topping Out” Ceremony as part of their $27 million expansion project.


After leaving their “mark��� on the steel beam, Yukon city officials and hospital representatives join construction contractors as they prepare to hoist the last steel beam to complete framework of the third floor addition.
Several local city officials and dignitaries were on hand to join hospital staff and physicians as the last steel beam was erected to the highest peak of the third floor patient care area. Those in attendance had the opportunity to sign the beam which was adorned with an American flag and evergreen pine tree. As tradition states, the evergreen serves as a charm and brings good luck to ward off evil spirits on the construction site.

Speaking on behalf of the city, Yukon City Manager Jim Crosby remembered how city officials had a vision for the hospital long before it was built. “When the city rezoned the land for development, it was never predicted that this facility would take off so quickly. We never envisioned the number of physicians and doctors that would be right here, in our own community – this is truly a hospital serving the citizens of Western Oklahoma.”

The expansion project continues to keep a fast pace schedule. The new 18-bed emergency room and the additional 4-bed ICU is scheduled for completion this coming December 2009. The additional third floor, 30-bed med/surg unit, is expected to open March of 2010 and renovations to ancillary services to be done by June 2010.
