Who Are We?

Wonderful citizens—all ages, from teens through golden oldies; a few tough guys, and many sweetheart women; originally from all walks of life, around 100 active volunteers, …all here just because they want to be a part of something good, because they have found that in giving they receive!

What We Do

Most contribute from 2-8 hours a week, helping out in many departments in the hospital. Volunteers are willing to assist in any area of the hospital, not to replace employees but to help them do a better job…and make life a little easier for patients, visitors, and employees.

In addition, the Volunteers contribute financially to INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital, generously giving over $100,000 in the past 2 years, in discounts and donations! This includes over $5,000 given in scholarships to adults and VolunTEENs over the past two years.

The Gift Shop is the volunteer’s top fundraiser. The Volunteers service and fill the hospital vending machines; proceeds from these four vending machines also contribute to the volunteer’s financial success. By patronizing these two volunteer projects, you are helping to support our volunteer organization!

Information Desk Volunteers escort patients and visitors to and from all parts of the hospital, answer telephones, stuff and label envelopes, distribute from department to department, assemble notebooks, do shredding, and deliver balloons, flowers, cards, etc.

Other Volunteers serve as cafeteria cashiers, couriers, routine clerical workers, outpatient, emergency room, and eye surgery assistants and also help at the Specialty Clinic; they also assist with health fairs, workshops, and receptions and much more ALL WITH A CHEERFUL SMILE! Volunteer Ambassadors visit patients daily. They forward requests to Pastors from our area churches that serve as Honorary Volunteer Chaplains. These chaplains visit patients and are “on call” on a rotating weekly basis.

Volunteers do many things away from INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital as well; cookies and goodies are baked for “Tour of Homes” and other occasions. Handmade teddy bears and puppets are given to young patients and knitted baby caps are handmade for our “new arrivals” also, many hours are put into making the beautiful quilts that are available. The Christmas “Tree of Lights” and the “Dove Tree” decorate the lobby; all provide additional funds to the hospital.

Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. (363-9417)

Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. (363-9438)

Annually, about 100 Active Volunteers give around 20,000 hours of unpaid service to INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital. General membership including active, associate, Chaplaincy and life members’ total around 250 people.

Who's In Charge?

Volunteers are a separate department of INTEGRIS Blackwell Hospital, under direct supervision of the Administrator. Leslie Arnold serves as Director of Volunteers (363-9416). But, to tell the truth, the Volunteers really run the show! Nancy Fetters is the current President of our Volunteer organization. The Volunteer Board meets the 3rd.
