WHO ARE WE?
We are wonderful citizens of all ages, from teens through golden oldies. We are a few tough guys and many sweetheart women from all walks of life. We number about 170 with 77 of us being active. We are here just because we want to be a part of something good and because we have found that in giving we receive!
WHAT DO WE DO?
Our active Volunteers contribute from 4-10 hours a week helping out in many departments in our hospital. Our Volunteers are willing to assist in any area of the hospital, not to replace employees, but to help them do a better job and to help make life a little easier for patients, visitors, and employees.
In addition, our Volunteers contribute financially to INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital by generously giving thousands of dollars each year to our Foundation to help fund much needed equipment for our hospital. We also award scholarships to deserving hospital employees who wish to further their education and to VolunTEENs for help with college.
Our top fundraiser is our wonderful Gift Shop…the little shop with BIG selection.. Our Volunteers service and fill the hospital vending machines, and the proceeds help with our financial donations to our hospital.
Information Desk Volunteers escort patients and visitors to and from all parts of the hospital, answer telephones, stuff and label envelopes, distribute from department to department, assemble notebooks, do shredding, and deliver balloons, flowers, cards, etc.
Other Volunteers serve as cafeteria cashiers, couriers, routine clerical workers, outpatient, emergency room, and eye surgery assistants and also help at the Specialty Clinic. You will find our Volunteers assisting with health fairs, workshops, receptions and much more…ALL WITH A CHEERFUL SMILE! Our Volunteer Ambassadors visit patients daily. They forward requests to Pastors from our area churches that serve as Honorary Volunteer Chaplains. These Chaplains visit patients and are “on call” on a rotating weekly basis.
Our Volunteers do many things away from INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital as well. Cookies and goodies are baked for our annual “Home Town Holiday” event as well as other occasions. We have Volunteers who make handmade teddy bears and puppets which are given to young patients. Other Volunteers knit baby caps for our “new arrivals.” Many hours are put into making beautiful quilts which are used in drawings. At Christmas, the “Tree of Lights” and the “Dove Tree” decorate the lobby. All of these events provide additional funds to the hospital.

Our active Volunteers give approximately 15,000 hours of unpaid service to INTEGRIS Blackwell Regional Hospital each year.
WHO’S IN CHARGE?
Paula Dill (363-9416) is the Director of Volunteers and reports directly to the President of our hospital. But, if the truth be known, the Volunteers really run the show! The Volunteer Board meets the 3rd. Tuesday. of each month and the Gift Shop Committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
