Community Acquired Pneumonia Measures

INTEGRIS QualityBlackwell Regional Hospital Quality

At INTEGRIS Blackwell we are committed to providing safe care for our patients and quality care that is consistent with national guidelines.  We look closely at how we are caring for our patients with pneumonia.

For pneumonia, we do very well at giving antibiotics within 4 hours of arrival, giving the most appropriate antibiotic, getting blood cultures before antibiotics, measuring the oxygen in the blood, and giving influenza and pneumococcal vaccinations.

To improve documentation of smoking cessation education, we have changed our nursing admission forms to remind the nurses to ask the patient if they smoke and to provide them with instructions on how to quit smoking.  We include smoking cessation information in our admission packet, which makes the information easily accessible.

It is our goal to continuously look at our processes, make improvements, and provide the very best care to our patients.
