New Assistant Administrator Happy To Be Here
6-25-08

Eddie Herrman has been at INTEGRIS Bass since May and already he likes what he sees.

Herrman joined the hospital’s administrative team as Assistant Administrator-Patient Care Services.  Herrman’s duties include the oversight of all of the hospital’s nursing units.

“I can honestly say that this is the first hospital I’ve been where people are genuinely happy to be here and work here, and there is a real dedication to the facility.” Herrman said.

That’s high praise from someone whose professional career has taken him to hospitals throughout Texas, Kansas, and California.

Prior to coming to INTEGRIS Bass, Herrman was the Chief Nursing Officer at Baylor Medical Center at Trophy Club where he had direct oversight of eight different departments and was instrumental in helping to develop the facility into a financially profitable business.  Before that he worked at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas as the Director of Intermediate Care.  Prior to his position in Denton, Herrman worked at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles, California, where he managed a 24-bed Cardiac Surgery Intensive Care Unit.

Herrman is no stranger to Oklahoma, however, and this most recent career change brings him closer to home.

Born in Germany, Herrman lived in Shidler, Lindsey and Yukon growing up.  His wife Ashley grew up in Woodward and currently both sets of the couple’s parents live in Woodward and are undoubtedly thrilled to have the Herrrman’s and their two children, Amelia and Landon close by.

“We were looking to get closer to home and this opportunity was perfect.”

Herrman and Ashley met while in Nursing school together at Oklahoma City University.   Herrman graduated in 1998 with his RN degree.   The couple married a year later on September 11th 1999, and left to become travelling nurses.  Their travels took them to California and to Texas and introduced wife, Ashley to the opportunity of a lifetime when she was asked to become a private nurse for former President Ronald Reagan.  Ashley cared for President Reagan for three years.

When not at work Herrman enjoys hunting and fishing and golfing.  He also professes a love for cars.  Herrman’s first car was a 69 Camaro that he and his father worked on and Herrman used to own a corvette.

“Yeah, I used to have a Corvette, but now I have two kids,” he joked.

Joking aside, family is very important to Herrman.  In addition to being closer to both sets of parents, the Herrmans are also closer to his siblings in Wichita and Gridley, with Ashley’s brother in Oklahoma City.  Enid was attractive to the couple, because of having extended family nearby, but also for the quality of life issues that a town of Enid’s size offers young families.  Herrman said both he and Ashley are looking forward to being a part of the community.

Another thing that Herrman is looking forward to is his role at the hospital.

“I plan to bring my experience and to help streamline and focus even more on quality care for patients.”   I want this to be a facility where we treat everyone like we would want our own families to be treated.”
