Recommended Venous Thromboembolism Prophylaxis Ordered

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a deep vein thrombosis, a blood clot in the leg, or a pulmonary embolism, a blood clot to a lung artery.  Research illustrates that VTE is one of the most common postoperative complications.  Prophylaxis, which prevent VTE, is the most effective strategy to reduce the occurrence of this condition and related complications.  Evidence-based guidelines that include the appropriate prophylaxis selection and administration have been developed and are utilized.
