Dear Friends:

It could have been anyone’s child … but it was hers.

She can still hear the doctor’s words. They were the scariest she had ever heard, and remain so even today.

Her son, a curious, vibrant boy, lay very still as he watched television. He complained earlier of a headache, but otherwise it was a usual evening. Noticing that he had not moved from the same position in quite some time, she decided to check on him. He was unconscious. He was immediately rushed to INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center.

Her son had a brain tumor. The battle continued for days and then months … blood work, tests, surgery. It was all she could do to stand on two feet. The pediatric intensive care physician kept her informed, assured her they were doing everything to take care of him, and reached his arms out to her family. The nurses comforted her and they felt drawn in by this beautiful child with so much left to live for, dream, and give.

Thankfully, he recovered. The family felt a debt to INTEGRIS Health, the nurses, and physicians who cared for their “miracle child.”

It could have been any doctor … but it was a caring, specialized physician. It could have been any hospital … but it was INTEGRIS.

• Two cancer centers, the Troy & Dollie Smith Cancer Center and the Central Oklahoma Cancer Center, which combined, diagnose and treat more cancer patients than any other metro provider.
