Physician Leaves for Johns Hopkins
July 21, 2008
For the last thirteen years Dr. Ahmet Gurakar has provided the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center with the highest degree of professionalism and compassion. His contributions to the institute have helped us reach a level of care that is second to none.
With mixed emotions we announce that he has chosen to accept the position of Medical Director of Liver Transplantation at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md. “We are proud that his accomplishments have led him to this prestigious hospital,” says Nicolas Jabbour, M.D., director of the Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute. “While we are sorry to see him go, we know his presence there will allow us to establish a strong relationship with this world renowned center.”
In order to continue to provide quality care to our patients and to meet the needs of our growing patient population, two new physicians will be joining us soon.
Dr. Sajid Jalil will be joining us in September 2008. He is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, in June 2007 and has been practicing hepatology and gastroenterology in Fargo, North Dakota, at the MeritCare Health System. Dr. Jalil also received a master’s degree in clinical science at the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences in Galveston.
Dr. Hany Elbeshbeshy will be joining us in November 2008. He is board certified in internal medicine and completed his hepatology fellowship at the Liver Institute, University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey, in June 2005. He has been practicing at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, New Mexico, since August 2005 where he served as the medical director of a multi-specialty group.
