INTEGRIS Health has been helping people win their fight against cancer for years, but soon there will be a new weapon in the arsenal that, for some, could help end the war.
The INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Oklahoma will be built on 17.6 acres of land located adjacent to the Oklahoma ProCure Treatment Center, now under construction. Together, the two facilities will create a comprehensive, world-class cancer institute providing services found no where else in the region.
ProCure will be the first in the state to provide proton therapy, the most advanced form of radiation therapy, while the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Oklahoma will offer advanced surgeries, immunotherapy, genetic counseling, chemotherapy, blood cell transplants, IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy), IGRT (image guided radiation therapy), and radiosurgery treatments. The institute will also participate in cancer research by conducting both prevention and clinical trials.
“As we contemplated an idea for a cancer institute, we felt there were several imperatives. We had to have the best technology available to treat our patients and we needed the best physicians to administer treatment,” says Stanley Hupfeld, president and CEO of INTEGRIS Health. “We have been providing top-level care in this state for years and the cancer institute proton campus will reflect our continued commitment to our patients.”
Conveniently located on one campus, the partnering organizations will compliment one another with a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to cancer care using the most sophisticated equipment of its type in the world. This will be the sixth proton center in the United States.
The Oklahoma ProCure Treatment Center is expected to open in summer of 2009. Construction of the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Oklahoma will begin later this year, with a completion date set for fall of 2009. Flintco has been selected to build the 139,000 square-foot facility.
The media is invited to a special groundbreaking ceremony of the INTEGRIS Cancer Institute of Oklahoma, which will include a VIP tour of the ProCure Treatment Center. You will be among the first to view the newly delivered cyclotron, the most important piece of equipment used in proton therapy. The groundbreaking will also include the planting of a survivor tree.
