Linda Merkey Promoted to System Chief Nursing Officer at INTEGRIS

INTEGRIS Health announces the appointment of Linda Merkey to the position of system chief nursing officer. As vice president for Patient Care Services at INTEGRIS Baptist for the past 10 years, Merkey brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to this new position. During her 29 years of service to INTEGRIS Baptist, she has had responsibility for emergency services, surgical services, outpatient and inpatient departments and Hospice of Oklahoma County. She was instrumental in the achievement of Magnet status for INTEGRIS Baptist in 2007. In addition, she has served as interim president of the INTEGRIS Heart Hospital, interim administrator of INTEGRIS Baptist, and administrator of Women’s and Children’s Services for the INTEGRIS metro facilities.
A native of Cordell, Okla., Merkey received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, and her Master of Business Administration from Oklahoma City University. She is very involved in many community and professional organizations, and was honored in 2007 with the Oklahoma Nurses Association Excellence in Nursing Administration award.
She and her husband, Mike Merkey, M.D., are the parents of one daughter, Madalyn, who is a freshman at Columbia College in Chicago.
As system chief nursing officer, Merkey will work closely with each hospital president and chief nursing officer across INTEGRIS Health to focus on issues that impact quality patient care and bring consistency in standards and procedures. She will identify opportunities to grow nursing leadership and promote the vision and strategic direction of nursing within the system.
Merkey will assume her new responsibilities effective June 1 and will continue in her current role at INTEGRIS Baptist until her replacement is determined. The recruitment process will begin immediately.
