OKLAHOMA CITY – INTEGRIS Health will host a two-day conference designed for health care professionals and educators on how to use evidence through practice to improve quality of care, in partnership with the Joanna Briggs Institute of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing and Veterans Administration Hospital. The 2008 Quest for Quality Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 23, in the James L. Henry Auditorium at INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center.
Keynote speaker Patricia A. Edwards, Ed.D., RN, CNAA, will present “Leadership in Nursing Research and Evidence-based Practice” on Day 1, and “The Magnetic Force in Quality Patient Care and Outcomes” on Day 2. Edwards currently serves as associate dean of nursing research and is program evaluation director for the graduate nursing program at Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. In her role, she assists with administrative duties for the School of Nursing and provides academic and administrative leadership for the graduate nursing program as well as develops and implements nursing program evaluation methodologies and coordinates nursing research activities and seeks funding to support new initiatives.
Edwards presently serves on the board of directors of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and is a current member of New York’s Northeastern chapter; is an appraiser group member with the Magnet Nursing Services Recognition Program for Excellence in Nursing Services, of the American Nurses Credentialing Center; and is a member of the Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, Massachusetts Nurses Association, Nurses Foundation and National League for Nursing. She also is an active member and serves as secretary for the Sigma Theta Tau International Kappa chapter.
The conference will provide 6.75 contact hours on Day 1 and 7.0 contact hours on Day 2. Parking is available in any of the parking garages on the east, west and south sides of the hospital and in the east parking lot across from Independence Ave. Complimentary valet and handicap parking are also available at each hospital entry. All events will take place in the auditorium or in the conference rooms on the concourse level between Buildings B and D. Cost: Non-INTEGRIS/JBIO Affiliates: $50 per day; Students/Faculty: $15; INTEGRIS/JBIO: Free. Pre-payment may be made by credit card by calling the INTEGRIS HealthLine or by check at the conference.
