OKLAHOMA CITY -
Physicians and other caregivers have long recognized the relationship between restful sleep and healing. However, when dealing with pain or illness, a good night’s sleep can be hard to find in the hospital … the place where it is needed the most! That’s why INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center is pleased to be among the first facilities in the region to adopt the innovative Hill-Rom Tempur-Pedic bed, a sleeping system designed to increase comfort for patients.

Tempur® material contours precisely to each patient’s body, providing better spinal support, pain relief and relaxation. This feature can allow patients to achieve deeper sleep, which is critical to healing and recovery.

“We believe that by ensuring better sleep, we can help our patients heal faster,” says INTEGRIS Baptist Chief Nursing Officer Linda Merkey, RN, B.S.N., M.B.A. “At INTEGRIS Baptist, we are always seeking improvements in processes and technologies that help us deliver the best possible care to our patients. We are pleased to provide these new Hill-Rom Tempur-Pedic beds and believe they can have an impact on the quality of sleep our patients achieve while in our hospital.”

The Hill-Rom Tempur-Pedic line of surfaces are not only more comfortable for patients, but are also designed to promote safety.

Tempur materials, which behave in a fluid-like manner, are responsive to temperature changes between room temperature and body temperature, and are clinically proven to reduce the incidence of bed sores.

Hill-Rom Tempur-Pedic beds also have features that offer increased heel support and make it easier to get in and out of bed, resulting in fewer fall-related injuries.

Hill-Rom and Tempur-Pedic announced this innovative new product in April 2007 and began introducing the product into hospital settings in August 2007. To date, INTEGRIS Baptist has purchased 77 of the new Hill-Rom Tempur-Pedic VersaCare® medical mattress beds and plans to purchase more to eventually replace all existing beds in the facility.
