OKLAHOMA CITY –
Each year thousands are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, the progressive, degenerative disease of the central nervous system. The disease can be very frightening to those who are afflicted with it and to their families. To learn more about early detection and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and take advantage of a free memory loss screening, plan on attending one of three educational presentations in June.

Ernest Warner, M.D., will discuss the latest information on Alzheimer’s disease and the disease process on Friday, June 1, at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital, 1201 Health Center Parkway, Yukon and Harvey Drapkin, M.D., will be discussing stages of change, medical findings, and the latest medications available on Tuesday, June 5, at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Pennsylvania, The free Alzheimer’s screening series will continue with an additional memory loss screening on Wednesday, June 27, at Waterloo Road Baptist Church, 3100 E. Waterloo Road, with Tomas Owens, M.D.

Each program will begin with a light lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by a noon presentation. After each presentation, mental health professionals will provide free memory loss screening tests at each site from 1 to 3 p.m. Reservations are required.

The events are offered free as a community service by INTEGRIS Third Age Life Center, INTEGRIS Mental Health, and Areawide Aging Agency. For more information or to make reservations, call the INTEGRIS HealthLine at (405) 951-2277.
