Troy and Dollie Smith Cancer Center to Host Hilarious Husband/Wife Duo at 20th Annual National Cancer Survivor’s Day

May 30, 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY –
The hysterical husband and wife team of Roger and Kathy Cawthon will take cancer survivors by storm in Oklahoma City this Sunday, June 3 at the 20th Annual “Celebration of Life” event, sponsored by the INTEGRIS Troy & Dollie Smith Cancer Center. The event will honor cancer survivors and their families and friends, who will gather at 1:00 p.m. at the National Cowboy Museum and Western Heritage Center to listen to the duo. Their presentation will begin at 2 p.m.

Each year communities across the nation join in celebrating National Cancer Survivors’ Day with events that unite cancer survivors, families and friends. It’s a day to recognize the progress made in the early detection, treatment and research of cancer, which is in great part responsible for survivorship.

Former CNN sportscaster Roger Cawthon and award-winning author and photographer Kathy Cawthon are co-founders of The Cancer Crusade, an organization dedicated to fighting cancer with hope and humor. Through this organization, Roger and Kathy provide encouragement and support to cancer survivors, their family members and friends, and the medical professionals who care for them by offering a comprehensive series of uplifting programs and products.

Diagnosed with cancer within six weeks of each other, and following more than a year of aggressive cancer treatments, this dynamic husband-and-wife team celebrated their survival by completing the grueling 26.2-mile Marine Corps Marathon. The life-altering series of experiences is the platform from which they launched The Cancer Crusade.

Roger and Cathy's presentations bring in rave reviews from medical professionals, survivors and caregivers alike. Their frank and hilarious take on the world of medicine blends seamlessly with a powerful message that energizes and inspires audiences to laugh, love and live in the moment every moment.

“Celebration of Life” will feature complimentary lunch, music and a butterfly release to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors. For more information, please call (405) 629-3204.
