Bilingual Volunteer Interpreters Sought by INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center

July 13, 2007

OKLAHOMA CITY
– In an effort to improve communication among its Hispanic population of patients, families and visitors, the INTEGRIS Southwest Volunteer Auxiliary has immediate volunteer opportunities for bilingual interpreters.

Volunteer interpreters would assist hospital personnel and clinical staff in communicating medical instructions, treatment information, way finding and the customer services needs of the Hispanic population utilizing services at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center.

“With the Spanish speaking population on the rise in southwest Oklahoma City the Volunteer Auxiliary is taking a proactive approach to patient satisfaction by inviting bilingual members of the community to assist with interpreter services,” says Julia Hunt, CAVS, director of Volunteer Services at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center.

Interested individuals age 18 and older may apply for flexible hours of service, days, evenings, weekends or week days for as little as two to four hour shifts.

For information or an application, contact the INTEGRIS Southwest Volunteer Services office at (405) 636-7072, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or click here to learn more about Volunteer Services.
