The INTEGRIS Mission

Our mission is to improve the health of the people and the communities we serve. But we learned a long time ago that we can't fully care for our community by staying exclusively within the walls of our facilities. That's why 'returnship" is such an important part of our philosophy. What is returnship? It's giving back part of ourselves to the communities we serve. At INTEGRIS Health, the physicians, employees and volunteers take their education and skills into the community to make a difference in the lives of fellow Oklahomans. Their dedication, combined with our resources, help accomplish a variety of things -- from providing free clinical services, screenings and educational programs to working with juvenile offenders and providing activities for senior citizens.

We also realize that the health of a community isn't just physical and mental -- it's economic and spiritual as well. That's why we offer a myriad of programs that address all of these important issues:

INTEGRIS Health Cool Zone

The high temperatures and humidity of late summer bring closer another high school football season. To minimize the possibility of catastrophic heat-related injuries to student-athletes, INTEGRIS Health created the Cool Zone program to visit Oklahoma high schools.

Cool Zone hydration stationDuring two-day Cool Zone visits, players are weighed before and after practice, monitored for sweat rates and asked questions to estimate their individual risk of dehydration. On the second day, students are given an assessment outlining weights, sweat rates, fluid intake and fluid need.

If they’re drinking enough replenishing fluids, a student’s weight should be about the same at the beginning and end of practice. Dehydration of just one to two percent of body weight (only 1.5 to 3.0 pounds for a 150-pound athlete) can inhibit performance, while dehydration of greater than three percent of body weight increases an athlete’s risk of heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

Men’s Health Program

Men are nearly twice as likely as women to fail to get routine medical check-ups or care and frequently ignore symptoms or delay medical attention when sick or in pain. To raise awareness of this issue and help turn the tide, the INTEGRIS Men’s Health program sponsors events that men can attend in order to find out more about common health issues and concerns.

Men standing aroundINTEGRIS Health’s innovative men’s initiative – Men’s Health University – is designed to educate men and their families on the importance of men taking charge of their own health. And as part of this outreach, the annual wellness fair drew more than 700 people to the event.

What’s more, the Men’s Health University also consists of free screenings and information, physician seminars and a Web site devoted solely to men’s health.

Calling All Clowns – Camp Funnybone

INTEGRIS Health’s 15th annual Camp Funnybone attracted more than 100 kids, designed to help teach children positive lessons about themselves and others using magic, improvisation, mime, costume design, prop making, balloon animals, clown make-up and other team-building activities.
