INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital

INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital is a 44-bed primary care facility with a full range of services. The hospital offers a high level of technology in a small community setting. Built in 2001, this hospital became the first INTEGRIS Rural Health facility to be designed and constructed from the ground up. It has a medical roster of more than 200 physicians in various specialties. The hospital has 30 private medical surgical rooms, a 10-bed women’s unit and a newly constructed four-bed intensive care unit.

The Surgery department of the hospital includes a dedicated C-section operating room and three general surgical rooms as well as an endoscopy area and an eight-bed outpatient procedure unit. Services also include a level four Emergency department and Radiology services consisting of mammography, radiological, fluoroscopy, CAT scan, ultrasound, bone density, nuclear medicine and a mobile MRI. General laboratory and cardio-pulmonary services are available and a Physical Therapy department includes inpatient, outpatient, wound care and aquatic therapy services. The hospital was named one of Solucient’s Top 100 Hospitals in 2005 and maintains its accreditation status awarded by the Joint Commission.

First Annual Student Governing Board Scholarships Awarded

The Canadian County Student Governing Board announced the three $1,000 scholarship winners during an awards ceremony at INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon. Last fall, the hospital partnered with Parkview Hospital of El Reno to form this prestigious program. Nine students were selected from a large group of applications to make up the first student governing board class. Throughout the school year, the students visited each facility and observed patient treatment areas including radiology, respiratory care, emergency care services and a variety of surgical cases. Staff, managers and physicians frequently visited with the group to discuss career options, education and training in the medical environment. INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital President James Moore says, “I am excited that INTEGRIS had the opportunity to engage the minds of these young students, while at the same time expose them to the challenging and rewarding field of health care.”

Adopt-an-Angel

INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital CareTeam members Melissa Cook and Rhonda Glover made it a hospital-wide initiative this year to organize the annual Adopt-an-Angel project. Gran Gran’s Place, Mustang Manor and the Tuttle Care Center each selected residents for the project. The Yukon hospital employees then purchased items for the selected residents as described on tree ornaments. From shaving cream and stationery, to blankets and bread makers, all requests were filled, and many doubly so! “When it comes to giving back to our local communities, you don’t have to ask our employees twice,” states James Moore. “Whether it’s through health screenings, educational seminars or community sponsored events, our employees are eager and willing to lend a helping hand.” Melissa and Rhonda both sum up the success of the project with a simple statement, “You can’t help but feel you are doing the right thing, when you see the joy and excitement a simple bottle of shampoo and peppermint Life Savers can bring to an individual – something we take for granted daily.”

Canadian Valley Foundation Hosts Community Events

The INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital Foundation Board again partnered with the SafeKids Coalition in sponsoring two free community events at the hospital. More than 30 folks came to have their individual child seats checked for proper installment and proper child/weight/age ratio, and to learn proper maintenance and care of their child seats. Due to various safety circumstances, SafeKids Coalition and the hospital were able to provide eight FREE car seats at the event. A Bike Safety Rodeo held on the Yukon hospital grounds attracted more than 30 boys and girls. Various educational stations were set up that focused on proper hand signal use, traffic signs and signals, proper helmet use and fit, and general bike safety and maintenance. Each participant who completed the safety stations and obstacle course received a new bicycle helmet, at no cost. At INTEGRIS Canadian Valley, fund raising and returnship go hand-in-hand.

Breakfast with Santa

More than 100 children from the community gathered in the hospital foyer to have their photo taken with none other than Jolly Old St. Nick himself! Employees acting as Santa’s Helpers served up breakfast snacks and handed out prize packages to all who attended. Individual color photos were printed and distributed following the event. INTEGRIS Canadian Valley Regional Hospital employees look forward to this being an annual event.
