INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital

Since 1963, INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital has delivered the best in medical care services.  The hospital, located in northeastern Oklahoma's Delaware County, which is filled with rolling hills and lakes, opened in November 1963.  In addition to northeast Oklahoma, the hospital's service area includes parts of southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas.

Grove has been ranked as one of the fastest growing communities in the state; as a result, INTEGRIS Grove has recruited several highly qualified physicians to keep up with the need.   Grove has consecutively been recognized by winning the VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence.  Since 2001, INTEGRIS Grove has invested more than $11 million in the construction of a new Physicians Office Building and an Ambulatory Care Center that houses state-of-the-art equipment second to none in the four-state area.  INTEGRIS Grove began the building of their new hospital in 2008.

Grove Targets Young in Flu Shot Giveaway

This year Grove first, second and third graders were given free flu shots with the consent of their parents. This brought to fruition an idea sparked by Dr. Zachary Bechtol to keep our kids healthy and curb absenteeism by the children as well as the teachers they infect. The 287 children who received shots represent 57 percent of the elementary school student body. Grove public school nurses organized the school’s part, and INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital provided the personnel. Plans are to check next year’s child-missed days to learn by how much absenteeism has been reduced. Viewed as a potential model for other communities in the state, Dr. Bechtol explains, “If we can get endemic flu season right every year, then maybe we will be better prepared for a pandemic response.”

Ice Storm Brought out Best in INTEGRIS Grove Personnel

During Oklahoma’s devastating ice storm on Jan. 12, the entire Grove community pulled together to come to the aid of area residents. INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital personnel worked very closely with area emergency agencies, city officials and hundreds of volunteers from churches and other organizations to help tens of thousands left in the dark due to the ice storm. Several shelters were established in which many of our clinical employees provided home medical equipment and oxygen treatments, and met other medical needs.

Student Governing Board

For seven years, INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital has made available to high school seniors in Grove and Jay the opportunity to gain a position on its student governing board. In addition to the privilege of being on the board, one senior from each school is awarded a $1,000 college scholarship by the hospital. Students must complete an application form supplied by the hospital, and return it to their school counselors in early September of their senior year. The selection process involves a committee comprised of members of the hospital’s administrative staff as well as school officials. Criteria for selection includes the students’ school activities, community involvement, GPA and field of health care interest. The program’s objective is to educate and involve the students in the scope and management of health care services provided by INTEGRIS Grove, and to provide information about health care careers.

Camp Bandage Jr.

The 17th year for Camp Bandage Jr. was a record breaker as 1,400 students from a three-county area attended the safety and prevention educational program. Camp Bandage Jr. is for pre-school and kindergarten children. The camp is designed to teach children the basics of first aid and safety awareness in areas that include CPR, drugs, street safety, water safety, hand washing, splints and sprains, fire safety and electrical safety. This program is made possible through private donations from the entire community and is administrated by the INTEGRIS Grove General Hospital Foundation.
