INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center

Hispanic Health Fair

INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center employees donate hundreds of hours each year to volunteer services designed to improve the health of the people and the communities they serve.

INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, the only Oklahoma-owned designated Magnet hospital for excellence in nursing services, is a center of leading edge medicine, and home to a full service heart hospital, a comprehensive transplant institute and a regional burn center. INTEGRIS Baptist is licensed for more than 500 beds and also offers a full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services.

Baptist Community Clinic

Opened in 1993, the INTEGRIS Baptist Community Clinic is the largest free, all-volunteer medical clinic in Oklahoma.

Staffed and operated by at least 40 volunteer physicians, nurses, pharmacists and clerical workers, the free clinic is open to the public three nights a month.

Services include medical, dental, eye and pharmaceuticals as well as referrals for additional medical care. Immunizations, mammograms and pap smears for uninsured women ages 50 to 64, individual nutrition consultations, and smoking cessation programs are only a portion of the additional services offered.

James L. Hall Jr. Center for Mind, Body and Spirit

MBS Library photoOffering a variety of programs, the James L. Hall Jr. Center for Mind, Body and Spirit serves as a mind-body medicine learning experience for both adults and children, while providing a venue for public forums presented by nationally known speakers.

The center is home to the Crowe & Dunlevy Library, featuring a media center with more than 4,000 books, CDs, audiotapes and videotapes available to the public, as well as a newsletter and a speaker’s bureau.

Go Red at the OKC Museum of HeArt

In February, INTEGRIS Heart Hospital, the American Heart Association and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art teamed together to promote ‘Go Red for Women’ month. This initiative is designed to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease – the Number One killer of women – by empowering them to understand and combat the effects of the disease.

As part of their awareness campaign, an art contest was held for persons age 14 and older, with each entry required to incorporate the color red into the design and depict an image with the theme ‘Go Red.’ Each of the thirty finalists had their particular work of art on display during the entire month of February inside the Oklahoma City Museum of Art’s Education Center.

Yoga Kids Program

Yoga for kidsDesigned to teach body awareness, self control and relaxation techniques, Yoga Kids is a summer program for children ages 8 – 11. Sponsored by the INTEGRIS James L. Hall Jr. Center for Mind, Body and Spirit, the program teaches kids to stretch and strengthen muscles while improving their balance and coordination. The exercises help children to remember that they can use the process to bring peace into their own lives and to change their responses to the world around them.

No-Nonsense Community Nutrition

When it comes to healthier eating, Karen Massey, LD, RD, CDE, wants others to know that the process doesn’t have to be a difficult or complicated one. As INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center’s community dietitian, Massey provides civic organizations and churches throughout the metro with information about food guidelines and practical tips for choosing wholesome foods in everyday situations. Massey, a registered, licensed dietitian and certified diabetes educator, has more than 15 years of practice in nutrition counseling.
